Madison County Democrats endorse Melissa Stearns

The Madison County Democratic Committee has endorsed Melissa Stearns for New York State Supreme Court Justice.  Stearns has already received the support of the City of Oneida Democratic Committee.

“These endorsements are special.  The people of Madison County hired me.  The people of Oneida welcomed me.  I’m grateful and proud to have earned the support of the those who know me best,” Stearns said.

“Melissa Stearns is not only the most qualified Democrat running for Supreme Court Justice.  She’s the most qualified candidate, period,” said Michael Oot, Chairman of the Madison County Democratic Committee. “State Supreme Court is our highest trial court and Madison County is currently without a Supreme Court seat. The people deserve our most qualified and most experienced judges. More than any other candidate, Melissa Stearns meets both requirements. And she has the best chance of winning in November and restoring the Supreme Court seat to Madison County.”

Stearns is currently Principal Court Attorney to Acting Supreme Court Justice Donald Cerio, a position she’s held for ten years. She was Cerio’s First Assistant District Attorney when Cerio was Madison County DA. Stearns is the only Supreme Court candidate with an extensive background in both civil and criminal law.

She lives in the city of Oneida with her husband and their three children, Stearns attends Saint Patrick’s and Saint Joseph’s Church where she is a cantor.

Melissa Stearns is an honor graduate of the University of Rochester. She earned her law degree at the Columbus Law School of the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C.
