Speak Out Central New York’s Tax Chicken and Claudia Tenney* will stop at the Broome County Courthouse in Binghamton today, reminding voters that Tenney is too chicken to admit that she voted for the TrumpTax to reward her rich campaign donors with tax breaks, even though it will punish working families across her district.
*Claudia Tenney will attend in the form of a cardboard likeness.
WHAT: The Tax Chicken and Cardboard Claudia will make an appearance to remind voters that Claudia Tenney voted to pass the TrumpTax, even though it will raise New Yorkers’ tax burdens and endanger their access to health care.
WHEN: Today, Thursday, May 17, 2018, from noon to 1 p.m.
WHERE: Broome County Courthouse (Court St. side), 65 Hawley St., Binghamton

WHY: Tenney voted for the TrumpTax even though it will raise taxes for New Yorkers by $2.4 billion in 2019 alone, and since the TrumpTax passed in December, corporations have spent 60 times as much buying back stock to reward shareholders and executives as they have on worker raises or bonuses. Overall, corporations are getting 11 times as much in tax breaks as they’re giving back out in the form of bonuses and raises.
The TrumpTax also repealed the Affordable Care Act’s individual mandate, which even former members of the Trump administration admit is going to dramatically increase insurance costs nationwide (and continue the ongoing rise in Americans living uninsured since Republicans – including Tenney – began sabotaging the ACA last year).
Tenney has taken tens of thousands of dollars from wealthy campaign donors like PricewaterhouseCoopers ($10,000), Goldman Sachs ($7,500) and JPMorgan Chase ($6,000), who stand to save billions under the TrumpTax. The Tax Chicken will continue touring Tenney’s district for several weeks, reminding Central New Yorkers that she’s too chicken to admit who she was really working for when she voted to give tax breaks to the richest fraction of the country, at the expense of her own constituents.
