White House, Brindisi props up Griffiss and NUAIR; makes the case as to why feds should keep support for CNY drone test site strong

In a personal call with West Wing, Brindisi makes amicable push to remind feds why Griffiss was chosen as a test site; says he is not worried about federal support, but says ‘we need to a better job at the local level at making our case’

On the heels of a letter to the U.S. Department of Transportation alongside Oneida County Executive Antony Picente, New York State Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi announced today that he has spoken with the White House on the importance of the application from New York State and NUAIR to be a national test site for Unmanned Air Systems in commercial airspace.  Brindisi released the following statement and photo after the call:

“I just spent a few minutes on the phone with the White House, where I made the friendly case to keep federal support for Griffiss and NUAIR strong,” Brindisi said. “I do not think we are in a bad place, but I do believe we should have been chosen as part of the recent Pilot announced by the FAA. I also believe we need to turn up the volume locally, particularly as it relates to the Congressional Unmanned Systems Caucus. Griffiss needs to testify on its UAV successes and data gathering at a House hearing and I will be pushing to get this done. It was a pleasure to speak with the White House and make the case.”
