EPA reverses course on pesticide safety training following A.G. Underwood lawsuit

Last month, New York Attorney General Barbara D. Underwood led a multi-state suit against the Trump Administration for failing to protect farm workers from pesticide poisoning. She released the following statement June 14, 2018, in connection with the case:

“Last month, our office led a lawsuit against the EPA for purposefully denying farm workers the tools they need to protect themselves and their families from poisonous pesticides,” Underwood said. “Today, the EPA reversed course. Again and again, the EPA has broken the law – and we’ve fought back and won. We won’t hesitate to do what’s necessary to protect the health and safety of all New Yorkers.”

Late last month, Underwood led a multi-state lawsuit against the Trump Administration for its indefinite delay of a key requirement that provides improved training intended to better protect farm workers, pesticide handlers and their families from pesticide poisoning.

The EPA announced that it will publish a notice in the Federal Register stating that the expanded pesticide safety training materials are available for use.
