Morrisville State releases 2018 Volleyball schedule

Morrisville State has released its volleyball schedule for the 2018 season, featuring nine contests on their home court, a total five tournament weekends and a benefit game for childhood cancer.

The Mustangs finished the season 24-7 a year ago, notching a 8-1 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) mark and claiming the program’s first tournament title to earn a bid to the NCAA Championship Tournament.

They begin their 2018 pursuit of “striving for more” on Friday, August 31st, as they kick off an eight team, three-day weekend tournament on their home court against Hartwick College.

September will start with a rally against Buffalo State on the 1st, followed by a two-match Sunday that features MIT and Penn St. Behrend on the 2nd.

The following week, Morrisville State will hit the road at MIT, hitting the court against Springfield on the 7th, followed by a dup against Suffolk and Babson on the 8th.

Route 20 rival Cazenovia College rolls into town on the 12th to open NEAC play, followed by Wells on the 19th. The contest against the Express will serve as a benefit game, as the Mustangs lace up in the “Golden Laces for Childhood Cancer” awareness benefit.

Morrisville State will meet southern opponents Penn St. Berks and Penn College on the 22nd at Cazenovia College, and will return to their home court on the 26th as they face SUNY Polytechnic.

The Mustangs will wrap up September’s action at the Cortland Tournament, facing the hosts on the 28th, followed by RIT and Wilkes on the 29th across the two-day action.

Morrisville State heads south to the College of St. Elizabeth on October 6th to kick off the second month of play, hitting the court against Penn St. Abington before facing the hosts in conference play.

On the 10th they head to Keuka College for a conference battle before hitting the road at the two-day tournament hosted by New Paltz. On the 12th the Mustangs will take on Bard College at New Paltz, followed by the hosts on the 13th as well as Rowan College.

They return home for their final home court battle on the 20th, hosting Gallaudet in a rematch of last year’s championship final, followed by Lancaster Bible College.

Morrisville State will head to Cobleskill for their final conference contest of the season, before wrapping up the regular season with a bout at Union College on the 26th and a duo against Skidmore and New Paltz on the 27th at Skidmore.
