Speak Out Central New York responds to Justice Anthony Kennedy’s retirement
As Congressional Republicans continue to threaten more health care sabotage, Speak Out CNY calls on senators to scrap Trump’s short list
Speak Out Central New York released the below statement today, in response the news of Justice Anthony Kennedy’s retirement and President Trump’s proposed short list of hyperconservative replacement candidates:
“Congressional Republicans – including Claudia Tenney and John Katko – have spent the past 18 months taking every opportunity to undermine and sabotage American health care, and do not hesitate to use the courts to help advance their partisan agenda,” said Speak Out Central New York spokesman Will Brunelle. “With a vacancy on the Supreme Court, we can be certain that Donald Trump and his congressional Republican allies will attempt to use this opening to continue stripping key patient protections away from millions of their own constituents.
“As a coalition of Republican states, joined by the Trump Administration, continue fighting in the courts to overturn protections for more than 130 million Americans and 600,000 Central New Yorkers who suffer from pre-existing conditions, it is every single Senator’s responsibility to reject any appointee who would vote in support of this indefensible, heartless attack on critical health protections.”
