Reported missing Connecticut woman crashes vehicle into a utility pole in Camden

On Wednesday, July 11, 2018, at approximately noon, a trooper attempted to initiate a vehicle stop on a 2009 Dodge Charger that was stopped in the middle of the intersection of Oswego and Church streets impeding traffic.

As the trooper approached the driver, she immediately accelerated down Oswego Street. The trooper immediately returned to his vehicle and began to travel north on Oswego Street; as he rounded a curve in the roadway he observed the vehicle crashed into a utility pole located in front of the Camden Elementary School parking lot.

The driver, identified as Michelle L. Pierce, 41, of Stratford, Conn., was air-lifted by Mercy Flight to Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse where she is currently listed in critical condition. Investigation revealed on July 6, Pierce was reported to the town of Stratford Police Department in Connecticut to be a missing person with suicidal ideations.

The investigation is continuing.

State Police were assisted at the scene by members of the Camden Village Police Department, Oneida County Sheriff’s Office, Camden Fire Department and North Shore Ambulance.
