Morrisville Public Library announces Aug. calendar of events

Library Closures: We are closed for our summer hours on the following Saturdays: August

4, Aug. 11, Aug. 18, and Aug. 25.

Dan the Snakeman: Come see, touch and learn about some very interesting and dangerous reptiles on Wednesday Aug. 1 at 6:30 p.m. Fun for everyone so bring in your parents, kids.

Back in Time with Music: Come have some fun with music on Friday Aug. 3 at 6:30 p.m. We will be playing around with music from the past. Lots of fun to be had with classic music.

Play Mahjong.: Like to play Mahjong? Want to learn how to play without using the computer? Willing to teach young and old. Join the fun every Monday afternoon at the library. The group meets Monday Aug. 6, 13, 20 and 27 from 1 p.m.-3 p.m.

We Rock.: Thanks to a grant from the Central NY Regional Council we have been able to bring your elementary school librarian from MECS here this summer. Join Miss Wise on Monday August 6 at 6:30 p.m. as she reads “Only One You” by Linda Kranz. Then create your own masterpiece on rocks to decorate the library garden. (Open to anyone not just MECS students.)

Summer Reading Kiddies Korner, Story Hour: Bring your preschool child (ages 2-5) for our last summer time story hour on Tuesday Aug. 7 at 10am. We will be reading stories about “Music Fun.” Make a craft, hear some stories and more. Our next story will not be until Tuesday October 2, 2018.

Out of the Cage Pet Mobile: Join Jennifer Clark as she brings her traveling exotic petting zoo to our library on Wednesday Aug. 8 at 6:30 p.m. She will be bringing 6 different animals to learn about as well as see and touch.

Rock Around the World.: Come join us as we have fun with music from around the world on Friday Aug. 10 at 6:30 p.m. It will be a rockin’ good time. Games, a craft and more.

Summer Reading Ends.: Get your reading records in at the library and make sure you have read at least ten hours by 8pm on Friday Aug. 10?

Rockin’ Mini Golf.: Thanks to a grant from the Central NY Regional Council we have been able to bring your elementary school librarian from MECS here this summer. Join Miss Wise on Monday Aug. 13 ay 6:30 p.m. and using Ozobots and Spheros, kids will code robots through a series of mini golf course challenges. (Open to anyone not just MECS students.)

Summer Reading Graduation: All the children who completed the ten hour reading requirement will be invited to this ceremony on Wednesday Aug. 15 at 6:30 p.m. Prizes, t-shirts, certificates and ice cream sundaes. AND, IF THE CHILDREN READ 1000 HOURS COLLECTIVELY, THEY CAN SLIME THE LIBRARY MANAGER.

Family Movie Night- Ready Player One (PG-13): We will be showing the very popular in theaters movie, Ready Player One on Friday Aug. 17 at 7:00 p.m. Popcorn as always will be provided; you bring your own beverage. Please note it is PG-13 so we will not allow anyone under 13 to view the movie without a parent or guardian.

Rock Out with STEM.: Thanks to a grant from the Central NY Regional Council we have been able to bring your elementary school librarian from MECS here this summer. Join Miss Wise on Monday Aug. 20 at 6:30 p.m. and using Makey Makey and other library tools, kids will create their own musical instrument. (Open to anyone not just MECS students.)
