Skuse named assistant coach at Morrisville State

Morrisville State head women’s volleyball coach Fred Wallace announced the addition of Katherine Skuse as the assistant coach of the Mustangs for the upcoming 2018-19 season.

Skuse, who comes to Morrisville State from Union College in Albany, will focus on the Mustangs’ defensive system this season.

Skuse spent a season with the Union College volleyball program as an assistant coach in addition to her time as the head 18U coach for the Sporting Albany Volleyball Club for two seasons.

With more than six years of experience within the coaching ranks, Skuse has been involved with coaching at all levels of play, within the high school ranks with both girls and boys volleyball programs, as well as at the 16U and 18U levels throughout the surrounding Albany area.

Skuse spent two seasons on the JV program at Springfield College, earning her degree in applied exercise science with a minor in coaching in May 2013, before continuing to Concordia University in Irvine, Calif., where she earned two additional degrees: a master of arts degree in coaching and athletic administration in 2016, followed by a master’s of science degree in coaching and exercise science in 2018.

In addition to her time on the sidelines on the court, Skuse has spent the past six years as a personal coach and trainer at Skuse Sports and Training in Albany.

The Schenectady native currently holds her CAP 1 Certification, along with memberships to USA Volleyball and AVCA.
