Oswego County man arrested for destroying American flags at cemetery grave sites
State Police arrested Dylan Ackerman, 26, of Mexico, on charges of fourth-degree criminal mischief (class A misdemeanor), third-degree criminal tampering (class B misdemeanor) and trespass (violation).
On Aug. 19, 2018, State Police responded to 3260 State Route 11 in the town of Mexico for a criminal mischief in progress complaint at the Mapleview Cemetery. When patrols arrived on scene, they interviewed Ackerman who stated that he broke numerous American flags from several grave sites; he then became uncooperative and refused to provide any further information.
Ackerman was arraigned in Mexico Town Court and remanded to Oswego County Justice Center in lieu of $2,500 cash bail or $5,000 bail bond. He was scheduled to return to Mexico Town Court Aug. 28, 2018.
