Clayton man arrested for aggravated DWI following a vehicle pursuit in Jefferson County

On Sept. 24, 2018, at approximately 1:10 a.m., State Police observed a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck traveling westbound on State Route 12 in the town of Alexandria at a high rate of speed and without headlights. Troopers attempted to pull the vehicle over, but the driver refused to stop and continued westbound for several more miles before pulling over.
The driver, Mark A. Stephenson, 33, from Clayton, was subsequently arrested for the following:
  • Aggravated DWI, class E felony (previous conviction with 10 yrs.)
  • Unlawful fleeing a police officer, a class A misdemeanor
  • Second-degree obstructing governmental administration, a class A misdemeanor

Stephenson was arraigned in the town of Alexandria Court and remanded to the Jefferson County Jail.
