Parole absconder from Connecticut arrested in Utica following search warrant

A Connecticut man, wanted by that state on a parole warrant, was taken into custody and charged with narcotics-related felonies following a search warrant executed this morning by the state police.

Jonathan A. Ayala, 26, originally from Hartford, Conn., was found in the Miller Street, Utica, residence where the search warrant was conducted.

AYALA was charged with two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class B felony; and fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class C felony.

He was later sent to the Utica Police Department’s lockup to await arraignment in Utica City Court.

Investigators seized approximately 90 envelopes containing heroin, approximately one-quarter ounce of “crack” cocaine, drug paraphernalia and more than $2,000 in cash during the search.

Members from the state police’s Special Operations Response Team, Community Narcotics Enforcement Team,  K9 unit and Troop D uniformed troopers took part in the operation.
