Thinking about homeownership? Now’s the time to act!

If you’ve been wondering about the advantages of owning your own home versus paying rent to the landlord each month or what you need to ensure that your first time home buying experience will go smoothly and be everything you’ve imagined, this opportunity is for you.

The UNHS HomeOwnershipCenter will be presenting at the FREE Homeownership Workshop hosted by the Utica Municipal Housing Authority Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2018, at the Utica Public Library in the Second Floor Music Room, starting at 5:30 p.m.

The HOC’s Homeownership Center Manager, Kristen Graves, will be presenting a summarized version of the Home Buyer Education class covering the steps to take to become a successful home owner. Information on the different down payment assistance options that are available will be presented as well.

Statistics show that consumers who use HUD-approved housing counseling services have 30% lower odds of foreclosure. In the 2017-2018 fiscal year alone HOC educated 168 households and created 55 successful homeowners. Of the 55 homes purchased, HOC assisted 38 households with down payment and closing cost assistance.

“Buying a home is the biggest investment you’re going to make,” says Graves. “The thought can seem overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be! The resources and information you receive from the workshop is invaluable as you work toward the dream of homeownership. Whether you’re just starting out or already in the home buying process, we are here to help make your dream a reality.”

Open to the public, the community is invited to participate in this free Homeownership Workshop. If you or someone you know has been thinking about buying a home and are unsure where to begin, this is what you have been searching for.

There will be light refreshments.  Parking is in the rear. Rides are available. For more information about this event, please call 315.735.5246 ext. 25, 315.982.3731 or 315.724.4197. The event can be found on Facebook at facebook.com/UticaMHA.
