“It’s Easy Being Green” continues at Rogers Environmental Education Center

While Kermit the Frog may say otherwise, the team at Rogers Environmental Education Center continues to demonstrate that it is actually easy to be green! Join Friends of Rogers and Kimberly LaCoe, Regional Coordinator of Recycling Outreach and Education with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, as this interactive workshop series continues.

Continue the celebration of ‘America Recycles Day’ on December 20 with a “Trash Swap” and scavenger hunt. Reusing objects helps divert material from landfills, but sometimes items outgrow their ability to be repurposed; however, one person’s trash is another’s treasure! Before discarding that no-longer-needed item, bring it to the “Trash Swap.” Then peruse this free garage sale for new treasures. The fun doesn’t end there, as a scavenger hunt will be held as well!

In the spirit of the holiday season, please bring a nonperishable food item to be donated to a local food pantry. Any remaining swap items will also be donated.

“You’ll never take trash at face value or look at it the same way,” said LaCoe. “Bring a friend or two. The more the merrier. Remember, it is interactive so, the more conversation, the more eye opening and learning the experience will be.”

“It’s Easy Being Green” will be held at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 20 at Rogers Environmental Education Center, just off state Route 80 in Sherburne.

Rogers Center is operated by Friends of Rogers Environmental Education Center, Inc., a nonprofit organization that offers educational programs for people of all ages. Seasonal hours are from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday, and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday.
