On Dec. 8, 2018, State Police in Herkimer arrested 21-year-old Dakotah R. Redner of Little Falls on charges of third-degree unlawfully fleeing a police officer, a class A misdemeanor; DWI, reckless driving and several other vehicle and traffic law violations.
Troopers were westbound on State Route 5S in the town of Danube, when they observed a tan 2007 Hyundai Sonata eastbound speeding and failing to stay in his lane. According to troopers, they had to use evasive action to avoid being struck by the vehicle. Troopers then activated their emergency lights in an attempt to stop the vehicle.
The vehicle immediately accelerated to more than 100 mph and failed to comply. The suspect vehicle then failed to negotiate a curve on Dillenbeck Road, lost control and overturned. The operator of the suspect vehicle, later identified as Redner, attempted to flee on foot but was immediately taken into custody without further incident.
