- 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The OPL Friends’ Accessories Sale. Friends of the Oneida Public Library are selling at unusually low prices gently used accessories, including a wide diversity of costume jewelry, to benefit the library.
- 11 a.m. Family Super Saturday: Bingo for Books. To promote the national day for bringing children to their local library, OPL’s Youth Services Coordinator Megan Gillander invites families with young children to play Bingo for Books together at 11 am and have fun at 12:30 with high-tech toys like Snap Circuits and Cubelets.

- Wednesday at 6 p.m. Family Movie Night: “Sgt. Stubby: An American Hero.” Based on actual events, “Sgt. Stubby: An American Hero” is a 2018 computer-animated film that tells the tale of a stray dog dubbed Stubby adopted by a young soldier in training camp and smuggled off to the trenches of World War I, where he becomes a real hero.

- Tuesday at 10:30 a.m., Utica Zoomobile: New York Animals. Students on winter break will enjoy an informative visit from the keepers of the Utica Zoomobile, who will be on hand with a sampling of animals inhabiting the northern forests of New York State.
- Tuesday, 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., Adulting 101: Basic Finances. Growing up is hard enough, so the OPL is helping high-school students (16 years old and up) to prepare to be independent adults with a mini to course on four basic lessons, one each day during the school’s winter break. First up Feb. 19 is Basic Finances. To ensure a seat and get handouts, students should sign up at the Library Desk or call (315) 363-3050 to register.

- Tuesday at 5:30 p.m., OPL Board Meeting. The Oneida Public Library Board of Trustees will hold its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2019, at 5:30 p.m. in the library’s Meeting Room, 220 Broad St., Oneida. The public is invited to attend. The Meeting Room permits barrier-free access to the physically handicapped. For more information, call the Oneida Library at (315) 363-3050.
- Tuesday at 7 p.m., Budget Hearing and Candidates’ Night. The Oneida Public Library Board of Trustees invites the public for a hearing on the proposed library operating budget for fiscal year July 1, 2019 to June 30, 2020 as well as for meeting the candidates for the board seat opening up July 1. The hearing will be in the library’s Meeting Room, 220 Broad St, Oneida, which permits barrier-free access to the physically handicapped. The library vote on the proposed budget and the trustee election is scheduled for Tuesday, March 5, from 12 to 9 p.m. at the library.
- Tuesday at 6 p.m., Pushing the Limits Book Club: “She Has Her Mother’s Laugh.” For a good read and fascinating discussion about the latest science, Prof. Jen Herzog presents “She Has Her Mother’s Laugh” by science journalist Carl Zimmer, in which he discusses how humans are shaped by both genetic and hereditary traits how biogenetic engineering may put our human inheritance at risk. OPL desk clerks can order copies of the book for registered participants.
