Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute student-athlete Keaton Ackermann of Erieville and Cazenovia Junior Senior High School has been recognized by Inside Lacrosse as a Division III Preseason All-America.
A defenseman, Ackermann started all 10 games he played in 2018. He scored twice with an assist, had eight shots (6 on goal), 17 ground balls and a team-high 21 caused turnovers – despite missing five early season games due to injuries. He had at least one caused turnover in nine games and multiple CTOs in five contests, including six in one and four in another. An All-League First Team selection and a United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association All-America Honorable Mention, Ackermann was the Liberty League Defensive Performer of the Week once and named to the USILA National Team of the Week once. In 40 career games, he has two goals and four assists with 10 shots on goal (14 total). Ackermann also has 45 ground balls and 33 caused turnovers. He is a two-time All-League selection in lacrosse, having been selected to the Second Team as a sophomore, and a two-time All-League honoree in football as a wide receiver.
The Inside Lacrosse Pre-Season All-America teams consist of 90 student-athletes, including 51 who were named Honorable Mention. Thirteen were named to each of the First, Second and Third Teams.
RPI, which is coached by Scott Hackett-Dalgleish, begins practice for the 2019 campaign on Monday. Its first game is Saturday, February 23, against Keene State University at East Campus Stadium (1pm).
