2011Craft_Fair_9(Oneida, NY – Aug. 2013) The 49th Annual Craft Days is on Saturday, Sept. 7, 10 am-5 pm and on Sunday, Sept. 8, 10 am- 4 pm at the Madison County Historical Society in Oneida.

The admission is $4 for adults, children 12 and under are free.

The society is once again offering a weekend pass for $6.

There are over 90 artisans and crafters selling and displaying their handcrafted products.  Some will be demonstrating their artistry while others will have storyboards to show how they make their craft.

Craft vendors are from New York State and Pennsylvania.

Iryna Juravich of Oneida is one of our artisans whose Ukrainian beadwork and hand knitted items that she and her daughter make will be available for sale. All of Iryna’s hand spun yarn used in her felted and hand woven items are from her own Cormo and Romney Sheep, alpacas, angora goats and rabbits.

Amy Hastings of Vestal, designer and creator of Fancy Feets, will have her own line of infant dresses and fashionable hats, baby footwear, infant bunting fashions and newborn layette styles available at the show.

Debbie Suter of Whitesboro will be returning with her hand carved and decoratively painted wooden pieces.

Gretchen Lapp Hamlin of Skaneateles was juried in this year for her glass art that is a combination of furnace glass and fused elements to create high-quality one-of-a-kind jewelry, bowls, plates and tiles.

Robin Coirin and Beverly Hammond of Kirkville were juried in for the handmade Chenille bunnies and bear by Robin and the hand sewn aprons and ironing board covers by Beverly.

Lauren Venettozzi of Utica is another one of our newly juried in artisans for her handmade crocheted hats, booties and scarves.

There will also be an array of foods to tempt visitors from Pastry Pantry of Endwell, Milliman-Estes’ fudge of Canastota, Kowalczik’s Kettle Corn of Whitesboro, Promotional Plus’ Roasted Nuts of Saratoga Springs, Tim McLaughlin’s Barbecue of Oneida Castle, R and V Concessions of Rome, Sarges Crepes of Mannsville, Gypsy~Girl Wood Fired Pizza of Sherrill, Split Rail Apple Farm of Oneida and Joe Rizzo’s ice cream of Sylvan Beach

Musical entertainment will be provided from 1 pm.—3 p.m. each day by two returning groups. On Saturday, a small group of the New York State Old Tyme Fiddlers Association known as “The Thistle and the Rose” will present old time Scots-Irish music. On Sunday, Double Chase, led by mother and son, Thelma and Matt Chase will play their appealing folk melodies.

There will be free children’s activities all weekend. On Saturday and Sunday from 12-3 the society will have 19th century games set-up in tent 1 for children between the ages of 9-12. On Saturday and Sunday from 12-2, artist and Oneida High school art teacher, Heather Cigeroglu along with her Oneida High School Art Club students will be doing face painting.

Visitors can also tour the society’s headquarters, Cottage Lawn, an 1849 Gothic Revival Cottage, during the event between 12 – 2 p.m. both days. Lisa Gardinier has donated a caned chair once again that will be raffled. She also will on the grounds all weekend demonstrating chair caning.

Raffle tickets will be sold to win some handmade craft items.

Admission is $4 for adults, children 12 and under are free. Purchase a weekend pass for $6 and join us both days! No animals or smoking are permitted on the grounds.
