(Brookfield, NY- May 2015) The Madison County Board of Health invites village leaders and interested community members to participate in a joint discussion of public health in the county. We will begin with brief overviews of each office, and then focus on opportunities for collaboration on key public health issues in Madison County.
This event will be the seventh in a series of Madison County Board of Health meetings that will take place in various locations across the county with other community organizations, in an effort to promote collaboration and build awareness about the state of health initiatives in the county. Madison County Board of Health’s mission is to guide, advocate, and collaborate, to ensure that essential public health services are provided to residents of Madison County. In recent months, the Board of Health has considered initiatives dealing with:
Clean water supply
Smart Growth and healthy community design
Childhood obesity
Tobacco use, with a primary focus on youth
Access to primary and preventive care services for medical, dental and behavioral health care.
Healthy housing
Healthy workforce
Environmental health tracking system and the establishment of indicators for the community
Public health preparedness and community resiliency
Maternal and child health
The joint meeting will take place on Monday, May 18 at 7 p.m. in the Brookfield Town Hall, located at 10535 Main St., Brookfield.
