ColgateRaidersColgate women’s soccer first-year Abby Sotomayor has been named the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week after scoring a pair of goals in the Raiders’ big 3-2 overtime victory against unbeaten Lehigh Saturday evening, as announced by the league on Monday afternoon.

Sotomayor scored the golden goal just 1:37 into overtime to cement Colgate’s 3-2 win over a Lehigh team that had entered the game undefeated. The Colchester, Conn. native also accounted for the Raiders’ first goal of the game in the 11th minute to give Colgate an early lead and snap Lehigh’s shutout streak of 832:31 that dated back to last season.

Sotomayor has scored a team-best seven goals this season. She’s netted four game-winning goals, which leads the Patriot League and ranks fourth in all of Division I.

The Raiders are off to a 2-0-0 start in Patriot League play for the fourth time in the last five years. Colgate travels to three-time defending champion Boston UniversityWednesday for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
