Deputies investigate fatal motorcycle accident
On May 24, 2019, at 5:54 p.m., Madison County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to 440 Fyler Road in Sullivan for a report of a motor vehicle accident involving a motorcycle.
The operator of the motorcycle was identified as Michael P. Eighmey, 24, of Pompey.
Witnesses to the accident reported that Eighmey was speeding westbound on Fyler Road, then “popped a wheelie” and rode on the rear wheel of the bike for a period of time. When Eighmey set the front wheel down, witnesses said, he lost control and struck a tree.
At 6:06 p.m., Eighmey was pronounced dead at the scene.
