State police arrested Darnell E. Holland, 24, of Clay, for second-degree burglary (a C felony), Criminal Obstruction of Breathing (an A misdemeanor) and fourth-degree criminal mischief (an A misdemeanor).
On June 20, 2019, at approximately 6:40 p.m., state police responded to 1 Candlelight Lane in Clay for a reported burglary that just occurred.
Investigation revealed the suspect forcibly entered the apartment, which was occupied, looking for another male with whom he had a dispute with over money. Holland then grabbed a five-months-pregnant female occupant of the residence and started choking her to the point of unconsciousness.
He fled the scene prior to patrol’s arrival.
At 9:44 p.m., Holland was taken into custody without incident at a friend’s house in the town of Salina. He was processed at SP North Syracuse and transported to the Onondaga County Justice Center for centralized arraignment.
