The Madison County Historian’s Office is continuing to offer a unique look inside some of Madison County’s most historic restaurants this fall. A new group of restaurants will be featured offering attendees the opportunity to get guided tours of the facilities and have a local historian talk about some of the history of the buildings.
On Tuesday, August 13th at 5:00 pm the Colgate Inn will host a brief history of the inn by Village of Hamilton Historian Joan Prindle and Madison County Historian Matthew Urtz followed by a tour that will take guest through the inn, rooms upstairs and down inside one of Madison County’s most storied inns. On Wednesday, September 18th at 5:00 pm the Lincklaen House in Cazenovia will host a brief history of the inn by Cazenovia Library Archivist Elisha Davies and Madison County Historian Matthew Urtz followed by a tour that will feature rooms from the inn, the tavern and the restaurant inside of one of Madison County’s longest running restaurants. On Wednesday, October 2nd at 4:30 pm the final tour of the fall will take place at The Horned Dorset Inn in Leonardsville. Madison County Historian Matthew Urtz will give a brief history of building, followed by a tour given by members of the staff. Attendees will visit the rooms of the Inn and the Wheeler House next door. The tour is limited in size so reserve your spot quickly because they are sure to fill up.
