The Madison County Healthy Start Partnership is hosting a community event to celebrate World Breastfeeding Week from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2, 2019, at Allen Park on Broad Street in Oneida. This special celebration is intended to bring awareness about the benefits of breastfeeding, as well as to show community support for breastfeeding.
There will be a walk around the park, “Walk a Mile for Mom’s Milk” that starts at 11:30 a.m. Walkers will receive a goodie bag and will have the chance to pick up items as they complete each lap around the park; four loops is one mile.
There will also be children’s activities, hand and shoulder massages, community resources and light refreshments. A photographer will be available to take mom and baby photos. If you’d like your photo taken, it is recommended to wear a white top.
Oneida Health’s Breastfeeding Connections baby weigh station will be held in the pavilion instead of its usual location on Seneca Street in Oneida for this event.
The benefits of breastfeeding are priceless. The support from family, friends, co-workers and the community makes all the difference in a mother’s decision to start and continue breastfeeding.
