Summer Reading, “Universe of Stories,” is almost over, so keep reading and recording those minutes.  Make sure you turn in your reading records (kids) and book reviews (adults) by 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9, 2019.

Aug. 9 please join us for “Under the Stars/Magic in the Sky” at 6:30 p.m. Join us as we have fun with stars and the magic that is in our sky – games, a craft and more.

Summer Reading ends at 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9. If you read at least 10 hours (kids), join us for our Summer Reading graduation at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14.  Awards, prizes and ice cream sundaes. If you are unsure you made it, check with the library manager prior to the event. Will the kids have read enough to COLOR the library manager?  We shall see.

Don’t forget at 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16, we are having our library lock-in, which runs until 8 a.m. Saturday morning. Families/people can come stay the night at the library and play video and board games, work on a puzzle, create crafts, use the computers, watch movies, eat food and lots more. Some reminders: no one under 6; too long of a time for littles – no exceptions, and you cannot come for a few hours; you have to stay the entire time. Anyone 12 and up can come by themselves as long as your parent has completed a permission slip (available Aug. 1 at the circulation desk).

All who attend must bring a sleeping bag and pillow (as we do make everyone head to sleep if they are still awake at 4 a.m.).  If you want to help plan, donate items, etc., contact the library manager.

On Monday, Aug. 19, we will be having our Out of this World Tie Dye night at 6:30 p.m. Bring a 100-percent pre-washed cotton item or items (e.g., t-shirt, handkerchief, etc.). Dress to get messy.  (We will not provide cotton items; people must bring their own.) Open to all ages; young and old.

At 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21, we will be Coding Cars with 4-H. Join 4-H resource educator Craig Brown as he helps us to code a video game using Scratch. Make sure your parents come at 8 p.m., as we plan to showcase all the games you created. This program is open to ages 8 to 14 only, and we have limited spaces available. Make sure you sign up starting Aug. 1 at the circulation desk.

Friday, Aug. 23, is Family Movie Night at 7 p.m. We provide the popcorn, so bring the family and your own beverage. Want to know what we are showing?  Contact the library or visit midyorklib.org/morrisville/events/movie-nights-the-library/.

Excess Crops Swap at the library – drop off any extra produce you grew/purchased, etc., that you don’t think you will finish before it goes bad. Look and see what is already there, and if you like something, take it. The basket is in the entry, so come check it out or drop off stuff today.

We are on summer hours, so we will be closed Saturdays through Labor Day. We are open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from noon to 8 p.m. and Tuesday and Thursday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
