Westy’s Birds of Prey will be one of the many attractions at the Great Swamp Conservancy’s 18th annual Fall Migration Festival, at the GSC’s North Main Street Road, Canastota, center. The event will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 21.
In honor of migratory birds returning to their winter homes where the food source is abundant, the celebration will include participation by the Onondaga Audubon Society, a guided bird walk, wildlife artists, crafters, flea market vendors, Utica Zoo Mobile, Little Bitty Farm, Maple Hedge Farm horse rides, 7 Trees Goat Farm, Wanderers’ Rest Humane Association, live music, raffle basket extravaganza, children’s wild crafts and games, Chicken BBQ, wagon rides to the scenic Overlook in search of migratory birds (weather permitting), ribbon cutting of new trail signs and receive a free a bag of trail mix, drum circle and more.
Environmental exhibits and demonstrations for all ages include Be the Solution to Plastic Pollution, Wetland Creatures, Year of the Beaver, Oneida Nation Corn Husk doll making, Madison County’s Departments of Solid Waste and Health and Cub Scout Pack 44.
This is a family-oriented day full of environmental nature fun that serves as a fundraiser for the GSC’s conservation efforts. Admission is $4 for adults, $1 for children 12 and under with a family max of $10.
