The Madison County Historical Society will host its annual luncheon and program Sunday, Oct. 27, at Lakeview by Chop and Grind, 1017 Golf Course Lane, Oneida. The luncheon and program are open to MCHS membership and the public. Steve Stokes is the guest speaker.

The MCHS is proud to present guest speaker, Steve Stokes who will present, Mystery and Mayhem, a lighter look at the darker side of Madison County History.
Stokes’s program will look at the quirkier side of past events in Madison County including murder, scandals and the bizarre.
Nothing normal or mundane will be covered just the unusual and peculiar.
Steve Stokes taught social studies at Jamesville-Dewitt and Fayetteville-Manlius Central Schools over his 35-year career. He was also the drama director at Fayetteville-Manlius Central Schools for 23-years while leading its summer drama program. During his tenure, he was awarded Alumni of the Year for Canastota Central Schools and awarded Central New York Educator of the Week, nominated as a semi-finalist for New York State Teacher of the Year and inducted into the Who’s Who of American Teachers.
He served 18 years on the Canastota Central School Board as president, vice president, and trustee, as well as the New York State Tri-Counties School Board, serving as trustee and vice-president. Since retirement, he has devoted much of his time in his community of Canastota coaching baseball, basketball and football, serving as Little League president. His community volunteerism also includes serving more than a decade on various committees at the Madison County Historical Society, most recently, as president of the historical society.
The luncheon buffet served at 1 p.m. includes barbecue chicken, hamburgers, macaroni salad, grilled vegetables, coffee and tea; program follows at 2 p.m..
Tickets are $20. Reservations are required by Oct. 24. The Madison County Historical Society will sell raffle tickets during the event. Prizes range from the many handmade craft items donated by the talented craft artisans at this year’s 55th annual Madison County Craft Festival. Tickets for the raffle items are $1 each or six for $5. The winning tickets will be drawn at the annual meeting; winner(s) need not to be present to win. Proceeds benefit restoration at the Madison County Historical Society. Other ongoing raffle tickets will also be sold throughout the event.
