State police seek public assistance with identifying the driver of a vehicle involved in a road rage incident

State police in Marcy are investigating a reported road rage incident that occurred Nov. 26, 2019, on State Route 49 in the city of Rome near the Griffiss Air Force Base exit.

The complainant reported that a vehicle attempted to run her off the road for no apparent reason and began throwing items out the window before stopping on the Griffiss exit ramp and exiting his vehicle to throw what is believed to be an ax at her driver side window before the complainant fled the scene out of fear for her life.

Troopers are attempting to identify the vehicle in the photo above. The driver is described as a white heavyset male with a bushy mustache and dark-colored hair.

State Police seek public assistance with an animal cruelty case in Herkimer County

On Nov. 23, 2019, state police in Herkimer responded to the area of 631 Newport Road in Schuyler for a dog complaint.

When troopers arrived, they observed four pit bull-mix puppies on the side of the roadway. One of the puppies was found dead, and the other three were malnourished and in poor health. It appears the puppies were left on the side of the road with a small bucket of water.

The town of Herkimer Dog Control Officer responded to the scene and took all of the puppies to her facility.

Syracuse man facing several charges after biting a trooper and refusing to leave friend’s apartment

State police arrested Noah A. Rivers, 24, of Syracuse, for second-degree assault, a class D felony; second-degree criminal trespass, a class A misdemeanor; and resisting arrest, a class A misdemeanor.

On Dec. 3, 2019, at approximately 1 a.m., state police responded to 121 Roxboro Circle, Apt. 2, in Salina for a disturbed-person complaint.

When troopers arrived, they met with the complainant outside of the apartment who stated he was concerned about his friend who had shown up at his residence acting strange, and he wanted him to leave.

Troopers advised Rivers that the resident wanted him to leave or he would be arrested. Rivers refused to leave and was informed he was going to be arrested. Rivers began to physically resist and was subsequently placed into custody.

While troopers were assisting Rivers into the rear passenger side of the patrol car, he became combative and bit the trooper on his upper leg, causing substantial pain and bleeding. The trooper was treated and released.

Rivers was transported by ambulance to St. Joseph’s Hospital for a medical evaluation before being arraigned at the Onondaga County Justice Center for centralized arraignment.

State police were assisted at the scene by the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office.
