Twelve Community Bank N.A. branches across New York state are helping kickoff the 2020 Empire State Winter Games by participating in an Olympic-style torch relay.
Among them are Cazenovia (2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28), 48 Albany St.; and Oneida (9 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29), 182 Main St.
The games’ torch will follow two routes starting in Buffalo and Manhattan with both ending in Lake Placid. The torch will stop at select Community Bank branches, including Cazenovia and Oneida 182 Main Street, during its journey.
The torch will be welcomed to each branch with a celebration hosted by bank team members, complete with a welcome banner, posters, balloons and t-shirts. In Oneida, local ESWG athlete, Alex Tooker, will join the celebration to help welcome the torch. Tooker is a senior at Oneida High School and will be competing in the 2020 Games in all three slalom events. He is ranked third in the state for the Giant Slalom.
Other participating branches include Gowanda, Orchard Park, Waterloo, Potsdam, Ticonderoga, Saranac Lake, Tupper Lake, Kinderhook, Valatie and Lake Placid.
Community Bank is the title sponsor for the 2020 Empire State Winter Games, which will be held in Lake Placid Jan. 30 through Feb. 2, where more than 2,300 athletes of all ages are expected to participate.
