Police respond to shots fired on Brinckerhoff Avenue
On Feb. 5, 2020, at approximately 11:50 a.m., Utica Police Department units were dispatched to the 1100 block of Brinckerhoff Avenue for a reported shots fired incident.
Upon arrival, they were able to confirm that several shots were, in fact, fired, and an investigation was commenced.
Early on, several individuals were identified as being involved; two of those parties were located and charged this evening.
Kimberly Felton, 39, of Utica, was charged with:
- Seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance
- Two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance
- There counts of second-degree criminal using drug paraphernalia
- Second-degree criminal possession of weapon
- Third-degree criminal possession of a weapon
- Fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon
- Criminal possession of a firearm
Clifton Mercer, 35, of Utica, was charged with:
- Second-degree criminal possession of weapon
- Third-degree criminal possession of a weapon
- Criminal possession of a firearm
- First-degree reckless endangerment
The investigation continues, and additional arrests are likely in the near future. Due to the nature of the investigation, no further information will be released until all parties are in custody.
