Sue Reaume, president of the Chittenango Area Association of Churches, said the organiztion is in desperate need of backpacks, particularly for high-schoolers.

“What we do is receive a list of supplies that are needed for the various age groups from the school,” Reaume said. “We pre-pack the items in the backpacks and then set a day for distribution.

“Last year, we handed out more than 200 backpacks, and I am sure on we will have more this year.”

Reaume said the group supplies paper, pens, pencils, binders, glue, scissors, and more.

“The food pantry would also like to start giving out gluten-free food to their clients,” she said.
