(Charlotte, NC – Jan. 6, 2013) Colgate’s late-game scoring drought allowed Charlotte to emerge with a 57-33 win here Sunday afternoon.

The Raiders had narrowed a 15-point halftime deficit to as few as nine, and still trailed only 45-33 when Jhazmine Lynch connected on a jumper with 10:13 remaining in the game. But that was the final Colgate point, and Charlotte closed with a 12-0 run to improve to 11-3 this season.

Lynch scored 15 points to lead Colgate, now 6-8 heading into Patriot League play. Mariah Jones added seven points, all in the second half, while Lulu Brase scored four. Charlotte was led by Amanda Dowe’s 17 and Jennifer Hailey’s 13.

The Raiders won the rebound column 44-38 but committed a season-high 30 turnovers against their Atlantic-10 Conference foe. Colgate shot 26 percent (13-of-50) from the field, including 4-of-18 from 3-point distance, and made just three of its six free-throw attempts.

Colgate visits American on Saturday to open the Patriot League schedule.
