(Oneida, NY – Jan. 2013) The Greater Oneida Chamber of Commerce is hosting a ribbon cutting for a new business, Alternatives Bottle and Can Redemption Center (ABC Redemption Center).
Alternatives Industry, a subsidiary of Madison Cortland ARC, provides employment opportunities and vocational training for people with intellectual and other developmental disabilities. ABC Redemption Center is a business division of Alternatives Industry.
On Tuesday Jan. 22 at 10 a.m., the Greater Oneida Chamber of Commerce will be placing a red ribbon in front of 327 Farrier Ave., to formerly recognize and welcome this new business in Oneida. Local dignitaries and state representatives are expected to attend.
“Alternatives Industry has been a long time member of the Greater Oneida Chamber of Commerce,” said Rebecca Halstrom-O’Beirne, president Greater Oneida Chamber of Commerce, “Opening ABC Bottle and Can Redemption Center is a win-win for Oneida. Not only is it a new business, it is a business that helps people with disabilities.”
ABC Redemption Center is located on Farrier Avenue, Oneida, next to LOJO Technology and Alternatives E-Waste. From Jan. 22 to 26 patrons may bring their bottles to this clean facility and receive 6.5 cents per can.
“ABC Redemption Center provides employment opportunities for people with disabilities” said C. Michael Hulland, associate director for Enterprise at Madison Cortland ARC. “We are encouraging groups like the Boy Scouts, schools, and other organizations to bring their bottles and cans to ABC because it helps the group and it helps people with disabilities.”
On Saturday Jan. 26 the Grand Opening will be held with gifts for patrons and a special rate of 6.5 cents per can.
ABC Redemption Center is located at 327 Farrier Ave., Oneida, NY. Hours are Monday – Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday’s 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
