A short-handed goal turned the tide for sixth-ranked Clarkson in a 3-1 victory over Colgate here Friday night.
The Raiders led 1-0 and had a player advantage nearing the midway point of the second period when Clarkson’s Shelby Nisbet pounced on a rebound and fed Danielle Skirrow for the tying marker at 8:43. The Golden Knights scored again before the period was out, this time on a power play tally from Erin Ambrose at 13:13 that proved to be the difference.
Colgate had taken the lead on Jocelyn Simpson’s power play goal at 11:44 of the first, from Taylor Craig. Clarkson pushed the final margin to 3-1 when Christine Lambert scored early in the third period.
The Raiders, now 6-14-2, had defeated then-No. 2 Clarkson 2-1 last month in Potsdam. The Golden Knights improve to 18-5 and play Saturday at Cornell.
