Cazenovia Public Library News

(Cazenovia, NY – Feb. 2013) Russ Grills, long time site manager at Lorenzo and former town historian, kicks off the Winter Festival events at the Cazenovia Public Library on Wednesday, Feb. 6 at 7 p.m.  Sharing his wealth of knowledge of Cazenovia history, “Winters Past in Cazenovia” will be an insightful commentary accompanied by incredible historical photographs.

Visitors to the library will also enjoy “Winter in 19th Century Cazenovia,” an artfully assembled lobby display by staff member Mary Eckel. Using artifacts from the library’s museum and historical photographs from the archives, this display gives an authentic look at how people in the 1800’s enjoyed the long winter months in Cazenovia.

Storyteller and Chocolate Party

On Sunday, Feb. 10 from 2 to 3 p.m.  storyteller Beth Tegart returns to the Library Community Room to tell “Cozy Stories for a Winter Afternoon” to children ages 6 to 10.

From Clinton, Tegart has been a storyteller, book reviewer, workshop leader, and literacy advocate in the Mohawk Valley for more than 30 years.  She is a former children’s librarian who loves sharing stories with audiences of all ages and invites listeners to “turn the pages in their minds” as they enter the fascinating world of legends, folk lore, and fairy tales.

Sponsored by the Friends of the Library, this event is free and open to the public.  Hot chocolate and cookies will be served.

For more information on these or other events at the Cazenovia Public Library, call 655-9322 or visit www.cazenoviapubliclibrary.org.

Please note: The library will be closed on Monday, Feb. 18 for Presidents’ Day.
