(Smithfield, RI – Feb. 10, 2013) Jimmy Ryan rifled a game-winner midway through the first overtime to lift Colgate to a thrilling 14-13 win over Bryant here Sunday.

The host Bulldogs had tied this see-saw affair for the sixth and final time with just eight seconds left in regulation, Brian Schlansker doing the honors with a low rocket from the left wing. But the Raiders fought off Bryant’s initial possession in overtime to set the stage for Ryan’s heroics.

Ryan and fellow midfielder Matt Clarkson accounted for nine of Colgate’s 14 goals, with Clarkson scoring five. Both goal totals were career highs.

Colgate scored the first goal of each period, but Bryant rallied to force four lead changes in the game in addition to the six ties. Clarkson opened the scoring, Kevin Boyle scored just four seconds into the second period, and then Ryan tallied his final three goals to begin the third, fourth and overtime periods.

Senior attackman Peter Baum added two goals and two assists for the Raiders, while Ryan Walsh and Brendon McCann added first-half goals.

Freshman Gordan Santry earned the starting nod in net for the Raiders, stopping 11 Bulldog shots.

Colgate 14, Bryant 13

Colgate (1-0): Peter Baum 2-2, Brendon McCann 1-0, Ryan Walsh 1-1, Jimmy Ryan 4-1, Matt Clarkson 5-0, Matt Baker 0-2, Kevin Boyle 1-0. Totals: 14-6.

Bryant (0-1): Brian Schlansker 2-1, Dan Sipperly 1-0, Peter McMahon 1-2, Collins Gantz 1-0, Colin Dunster 0-1, Alex Zomerfeld 3-2, Shane Morrell 1-1, Kyle Crowley 0-1, Bo Redpath 1-1, Cody O’Donnell 1-0, Kevin Massa 0-1, Mason Poli 2-1. Totals: 13-11.

Saves: Colgate (Gordon Santry) 11; Bryant (Gunnar Waldt, Tom Carey) 14.
