(Oneida, NY – Feb. 2013) The Karing Kitchen, a mission of Oneida Area Council of Churches, will be in operation with a coffee hour each day from Monday, Feb. 18, until Saturday, Feb. 23, at 10:30 a.m., at the First United Methodist Church at the corner of Grove and Main streets.

There will be a special menu all week for children, as well as special treats. The coffee hour will be followed by a luncheon served from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Take-outs are available. The kitchen is open to all regardless of residence, age or income.

Karing Kitchen is also currently accepting Food Sense orders. The last day to order for March’s delivery will be Monday, March 4, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Oneida Recreation Department. Order payments accepted are food stamps, cash and checks made payable to Karing Kitchen.

Karing Kitchen Accepts Feinstein Challenge

Karing Kitchen announced its fundraiser in partnership with the Feinstein challenge that kicked-off on ‘Soup-er’ Bowl Sunday. All donations received from March 1 to April 30 will be matched by the Feinstein Foundation, which is dedicated to the alleviation of hunger, the importance of community service in education and the values of caring, compassion and brotherhood.

There will be a drop-off box at the Oneida Daily Dispatch available between the hours of 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., United Methodist Church Monday through Wednesday from 9 a.m. to noon and at Holy Cross Academy during school hours. There will be counter kettles available in the community.

Please make any checks or gift certificates (Price Chopper, Wal-Mart, Target, Madison County Co-op) payable to Karing Kitchen.

No perishables unless dropped off at Karing Kitchen the week of March 18 or April 15. Some non-food items urgently needed for Karing Kitchen are brown lunch bags; disposable coffee cups, bowls and plates; new dish towels; scrubbing sponges; Clorox and Dawn dish soap.
