(Canastota, NY – Feb. 2013) Are you taking care of an older parent or spouse? Are you responsible for meal preparation, transportation to medical appointments, personal care, household tasks, insurance claims, lawn care, grocery shopping, hair appointments, etc.?  Do you ever feel as if there isn’t enough time for YOU?  Well, the Madison County Office for the Aging can help.

OFA provides a variety of services and programs to assist senior citizens and their caregivers. For example: the Respite program provides temporary relief from the daily tasks of caregiving; Outreach Workers will assist you with applications for entitlements and other benefits; Insurance Counselors can explain how Medicare works; and home delivered meals are provided by the SNACK Program.

Other services include; volunteer transportation to medical appointments, support groups, home helpers, case management, in-home services, legal services, handymen, meal sites, nutrition education, registered dietitian services, and much more.

The Office for the Aging welcomes caregivers, family members and older persons to call or just drop by. OFA has information that will assist you and your loved one in remaining independent and at home for as long as possible.
