(Chittenango, Canastota, NY – March 2013) On Sunday, Feb. 24, the 10th annual Bowling Bash was held at Hi-Way Bowl in Canastota for the benefit of Chittenango Landing Canal Boat Museum. Sixty bowlers filled the lanes from 1 until after 4 p.m. when prizes were then awarded. This was a nine-pin, no-tap event, so there were some high scores.

Most of all, it was a fun way to help the funding of the museum. Thanks go to the participants and to Jim Vittorio and Dick Sullivan for organizing the event. Also thanks to Frank DiChristina for welcoming everyone and for announcing the winners.

Kids Enjoy Model Workshop

(Chittenango) A model canal boat workshop was held Feb. 19 at Chittenango Landing Canal Boat Museum during winter break. More than a dozen attendees painted cargo boat models under the direction of the Shades of Orange Studio.

Children from 6 to 11 years old received an additional art lesson during the workshop. Diane Brandt gave a lesson on the history of canal boats while the children painted. High school volunteers from four districts – Cazenovia, Chittenango, East Syracuse-Minoa and Fayetteville, also were present.
