Bookstore and Library Sponsor Fourth Annual Contest
(Hamilton, NY – March 2013) The Hamilton Public Library and the Colgate Bookstore are sponsoring the fourth annual young writers and illustrators contest through April 5. Called Chenango Valley Scribes, this contest is open to children in kindergarten through fifth grade.
The contest is designed to encourage creative expression through words and art, and to foster a love of writing in local elementary children. A complete set of rules can be found on the official Chenango Valley Scribes Information Sheet & Entry Form, which will be available at the Hamilton Public Library at 13 Broad St., the Colgate Bookstore at 3 Utica St., at area schools, and online at www.colgatebookstore.com/CVscribes.
Entries will be judged on originality, creative expression, storytelling and integration of text and artwork. The contest judges will be children’s book professionals from central New York.
All participants will receive a certificate of participation and a small gift. Winners of the contest will be announced at the Chenango Valley Scribes Awards Reception Friday, May 17, at 6:30 p.m. and will each receive a $20 bookstore gift card.
