COLGATE C-GATE

(Atlantic City, NJ – March 22, 2013) Kyle Baun and Tylor Spink were two of the top scorers for the Colgate men’s hockey team and the two were recognized as members of the ECAC Hockey All-Rookie Team.

ECAC Hockey announced its all-league teams and annual top awards in Atlantic City during the league’s annual banquet on Thursday night.

Spink led the Raiders in points with 31 on the year and was the first rookie to lead Colgate in points since Tyler Burton ’08 had 34 points in 2004-05. The Williamstown, Ont., native had 13 goals and 18 helpers with seven of his goals coming on the power play. He had 15 points in league play on seven goals and eight assists. He was the first Hogan Hockey/ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Month this season. Spink was a finalist for the ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Year that went to Rensselaer goaltender Jason Kasdorf.

Baun was a goal scorer for Colgate all season as he led the team with 14 on the year and finished with a total of 24 points. He added 10 assists and had seven power play goals to be tied with Spink for the team lead. He was named rookie and player of the month during the season. In addition to the monthly honors, Baun picked up two rookie of the week awards and was named player of the month once. He was one of three players this year to register four point as he recorded two goals and two assists in a win over UMass on Dec. 7. He finished the weekend sweep in Amherst with six points.

Quinnipiac won three of the five top awards with Eric Hartznell taking home ECAC Hockey Player and Goalie of the Year, while Zach Davies won the Best Defensive Defenseman Award. Kasdorf earned the ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Year award and Cornell’s Greg Miller was selected as the Best Defensive Forward.
