(Oneida, NY – April 2013) The Oneida Healthcare Auxiliary is sponsoring a benefit basketball game with the Harlem Ambassadors professional basketball team. Their opponent with be an “Auxiliary All-Stars” team, comprised of well-known local residents.
The “fun and entertaining” contest will be played in Oneida High School’s Fariel Gym Tuesday, April 2 at 6:30 p.m.
All proceeds will benefit the “Fit Kids of Madison County” program to combat childhood obesity.
Earlier in the day, members of the Ambassadors team will address a student assembly at the Otto Shortell Middle School in Wampsville. The Harlem Ambassadors present a message that strongly encourages students to choose friends wisely, set goals, stay in school and stay away from drugs and alcohol.
Team members are forthcoming about their personal problems, temptations and mistakes. More importantly, they emphasize the changes and decisions they made to overcome these potential roadblocks to success.
