Oneida Public Library News
(Oneida, NY – April 2013) Oneida Public Library offers housebound students on spring break welcome diversions with a premier showing of the recent animated film release “Rise of the Guardians” on Tuesday April 9 at 2 p.m. and a close-up show and tell about spring lambs with Lisa Mawson on Friday April 12 at 2 p.m.
“Rise of the Guardians,” created by Dreamworks and directed by Peter Ramsey, is based on the best-selling fantasy series “The Guardians of Childhood” by William Joyce. The film introduces the Guardians: Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy, the Easter Bunny and the Sandman. With the reluctant help of Jack Frost, they set out to stop the diabolic plan of the boogy man Pitch Black to thrust the world into darkness.
In the real life program Lambs Are Sure To Go, sheep breeder Lisa Mawson on April 9 will introduce to children recently born lambs and explain their pedigrees, care and future roles in wool production. Mawson raises purebred Romanov, Finn and crossbred sheep on acreage in Oneida just north of the Thruway. She also runs Canine Culture Training Center, which offers puppy, intermediate, weightpull and agility classes for pet dogs.
Both programs are free and open to all.
