Spitzer, Ph.D., distinguished service professor and department chair of SUNY Cortland’s Political Science Department, on Wednesday, April 17 at 3:30 p.m., in McDonald Lecture Hall, Eckel Hall, Lincklaen Street in Cazenovia. The lecture is free and open to the public.
Spitzer is the author of 14 books, including The Presidency and Public Policy, The Right to Life Movement and Third Party Politics, The Presidential Veto, The Bicentennial of the U.S. Constitution, President and Congress, Media and Public Policy, Politics and Constitutionalism, The Right to BearArms, The Presidency and the Constitution, Saving the Constitution from Lawyers, Gun Control, and The Encyclopedia of Gun Control and Gun Rights, We the People: Essentials Edition, and The Politics of Gun Control (5th ed.).
He is also series editor for the book series “American Constitutionalism” for SUNY Press. In 2003, he received the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Scholarship. Spitzer is the author of over 500 articles and papers appearing in many books, journals, newspapers, and websites on a variety of American politics subjects. He served as President of the Presidency Research Group of the American Political Science Association from 2001-2003 and as a member of the New York State Commission on the Bicentennial of the U.S. Constitution.
He has testified before Congress on several occasions.
