(Chittenango, NY – May 2013) Sensei Marvin Labbate from CNY Karate and Kobudo Schools coached three students from the Chittenango School District recently at Amateur Athletic Union District Karate Championships held in Rochester and Albany.

Devlin Cameron (pictured left), a sixth grader at Chittenango Middle School, competed in kata and sparring in the Novice Green Belt division, bringing his season medal count to 3 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze.

Macsen Cameron (pictured right), a Lake Street Elementary second grader, competed at the Beginner White Belt division in kata and sparring and has matched his big brother Devlin with 3 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze for the season.

Alyssa Crane (pictured in center), a junior at Chittenango High School, in the Advanced Black Belt division, competed in kata, sparring and weapons kata. Alyssa’s season brought in 2 gold medals, 8 silvers and 1 bronze.

Their performances have qualified all three for the AAU National Karate Championships which are scheduled for June 26-29, 2013 in Cincinnati, Ohio and also for the AAU Junior Olympic Games during August in Detroit.  They will travel with their team of 24 athletes from CNY Karate and Kobudo Schools to compete against thousands from all over the country.
