Morrisville Public Library news
By Michelle Rounds, library manager
(Morrisville, NY – June 2013) The following activities have been scheduled during July at the Morrisville Public Library.
Closures: We will be closed on Thursday July 4 to observe Independence Day. We will also be closed Saturday July 6, 13, 20, and 27 for our summer hours. We will resume Saturday hours on September 7, 2013.
Summer Reading Begins: Summer Reading officially begins for us on Monday July 8th! Stop in and sign up this week!
Summer Reading Mural: Help us to create our annual summer reading mural on Wednesday July 10 at 6:30pm. Supplies will be provided; we just need all young and old talent to come and create!
Annual Book Sale: Join us for our two day sale on Friday July 12 from 4-8pm and Saturday July 13 from 9-2pm. Lots of great deals! Get some great reads for the summer ahead! The Book Sale will be held in the Library’s Program Room.
I Dig Gardening!: Come join us on Wednesday July 17 at 6:30pm as we have fun with gardening! We will be making our own goofy grass heads to take home and as well as doing lots of other fun things too!
Board of Trustees meeting: The board of trustees will meet on Thursday July 18 at 6:30pm. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend.
Out of the Cage Pet Mobile: Join Jennifer Clark on Friday July 19 at 6:30pm as she brings her traveling exotic petting zoo to our library. She will be bringing 6 different animals to learn about as well as see and touch! Also, she is a privately owned company and charges very little for her show because as she says, “we are devoted to extending our love of animals to people of all ages, through educational AND entertaining programs”, so we will be collecting items for her animals from the start of summer reading until the night of her program. So if you are interested in donating items to her cause, please call the library (315-684-9130) or stop in and get a copy of the list of things she needs.
I Dig Underground!: Join us on Wednesday July 24 at 6:30pm as we have fun with things underground-critters, rocks and who knows what else is lurking in the grass and below! Also, we will be creating our time capsule that night. If you have something you think we should put in it, bring it and if we agree we will add it to the capsule! We will be making things to go into it as well! Then someone remind us in 10 years or more and we can dig it up!
I Dig Getting Dirty!: Do you like getting dirty? How about playing in the dirt and mud? Come join us on Friday July 26 at 6:30pm and play with mud, dirt and more! Be sure to dress in old clothes because we are going to get messy! Parents, we will end the night playing with bubbles too so hopefully we can just be hosed down later!
Moreland the Magician Show: Join Moreland the Magician as he helps us celebrate “Dig Into Reading!” on Wednesday July 31 at 6:30pm. ‘Klondike Dave’ is a gold prospector from the Old West who’s sure there’s some sort of treasure buried at our library, and he’s determined to dig it up! Want to help him find it? Join him for a show packed with magic, comedy, mystery, puppetry, and more!
