(Canastota, NY – July 2013) Hannah Marie Stanton, 12, of Canastota, was chosen as a state finalist in the National American Miss New York Pageant to be held Aug. 17 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel Rochester.
The National American Miss pageants are held for girls from 4 through 18 years old, with five different age divisions; Stanton will be participating in the pre-teen division, along with other outstanding girls from across the state.
The winner of the pageant will receive a $1,000 cash award, the official crown and banner, a bouquet of roses and air transportation to compete in the national pageant in California.
The NAM pageants are dedicated to celebrating America’s future leaders and equipping them with lifelong skills. Each year, the pageant nationally awards more than $1.5 million in cash, scholarships and other prizes.
Activities and competitions are age-appropriate; girls under 12 years old are not allowed to wear makeup, and there is no swimsuit competition.
