(DeRuyter, NY – July 10, 2013) Town of DeRuyter Supervisor Dan Degear lifted the town-wide State of Emergency, first issued on July 1 when flash flooding caused significant damage to both personal property and public infrastructure. However, specific areas of the Town will remain in a State of Emergency.

DeRuyter Lake will remain under a State of Emergency as water remains at high levels. A No Wake Order remains in effect as well on DeRuyter Lake.

Town roadways still under a State of Emergency are Arnold Road, Carey Road, Chapman Road, Fairbanks Road, Old Route 13, and Richmond Road due to unsafe travel conditions. These roads are closed to general traffic; local traffic is permitted. For clarification, Old Route 13 is a Town Road – this is not New York State Route 13 which is open for travel.

“Road conditions are vastly improved thanks to the dedication of state, county, and local crews,” said Degear, “we are close to completion on repairing the dangerous areas and appreciate the public’s patience.”
