(Chittenango, NY – July 2013) Chittenango Landing Canal Boat Museum and Erie Canal Museum present Tuesdays on the Towpath, a series of five recreational bike rides this summer on the Old Erie Canal State Historic Park towpath trail and in downtown Syracuse.
The ride dates are alternate Tuesdays in summer: July 16, 30 and Aug. 13 and 27 and begin at 6:30 p.m. and finish by dark.
Chittenango Landing has bicycle rentals available by reservation. Call 315-687-3801 or email info@clcbm.org for more information. All rides begin and end at the same location. All rides feature a speaker and three dates feature special museum hours at Chittenango Landing Canal Boat Museum and Erie Canal Museum.
July 16: DeWitt Old Erie Canal State Historic Park, lot near 5400 Butternut Drive, East Syracuse. Speaker: Emily Bielejec, ESF graduate student
July 30: Erie Canal Museum in Downtown Syracuse, 318 Erie Boulevard, Syracuse. Speaker: Dr. Daniel Ward, Erie Canal Museum curator (Museum open 5-7:30pm).
Aug.13: Fayetteville Canal Landing Park, Limestone Plaza, Fayetteville. Speaker: Dennis Heaphy, historian.
Aug. 27: Chittenango Landing Canal Boat Museum (Museum open 6-9pm). Speaker: Christine O’Neil, Ex. Director, Chittenango Landing Canal Boat Museum.
