Women’s soccer opens 2013 with loss to Paul Smith

(Canton, NY- Aug. 31, 2013) The Morrisville State College women’s soccer team opened the 2013 season campaign with a 2-0 loss to Paul Smith’s College on the opening day of the SUNY Canton Tournament.
Paul Smith’s struck early, posting the first score just over 11 minutes into the contest before adding another five minutes later.
Despite outshooting Paul Smith’s 4-3 in the second half, the Mustangs were unable to put one up on the board, as they dropped the non-conference contest.
Angela Marriott (Peekskill, N.Y.) recorded the loss in net, turning away four opponent attempts.
The Mustangs return to the field tomorrow, playing Bay Path College at 1 p.m.on the second day of the Roos Tournament.

olleyball drops pair at AMCC-NEAC Challenge
(Buffalo, NY – Aug. 31, 2013) The Morrisville State women’s volleyball team kicked off 2013 action Saturday afternoon, and fell in both contests, dropping a 3-0 decision to host D’Youville College before settling for a 3-0 final with Hilbert.
In the first of the day’s action, newcomer Brandy Ehrenschneider (Olmsted Falls, Ohio) led the Mustangs attack with eight kills as they fell in three sets by scores of 18-25, 13-25, and 21-25. Tiffany Jones-Maxwell (Hamilton, N.Y.)added five kills in the offensive efforts, while Erika Bailey (Newark Valley, N.Y.) set up 14 assists in her collegiate debut.
Bailey added seven defensive digs to her tallies, with teammates Kylie Murphy (Nichols, N.Y.) and Jackie Saddlemire (Knox, N.Y.) registered six a piece.
The Mustangs battled to a 15-25, 22-25, and 22-25 match final with Hilbert as Ehrenschneider and Jones-Maxwell paved the way with a combined 10 kill offensive effort for Morrisville State.
Ehrenschneider added a team high four solo and three assisted blocks at the net, and Murphy 11 digs, in the defensive game.
Bailey had 10 assists in the match.
Morrisville State returns to the court Saturday, traveling to Susquehanna University for a two-day tournament.
